About Me

My photo

I am a 37 year old nurse who is currently not working due to medical issues. I have chosen to pass my time crafting, but because I am not working, I have little money to spend on supplies. I have a small stash from while  I was still working but am now using what I have access to around the house. I also use things I can find cheaply at the dollar store, in the dollar bins, on clearance, or buy with coupons at Michaels and Hobby Lobby. I also like to shop thrift stores and garage sales for things to use in my crafting. You would be surprised with what you can find if you aren't afraid to prowl a little.

Memorial Day Guest Design Project

Hello again everyone! I am so excited! On Monday, I told you that I had been asked to be a guest designer. Well, I have completed my project and turned it in. It will be featured on Little Scrap Pieces and the theme is "Let's Hear it for the Red, White, and Blue!"

I immediately had sooooo many ideas, I finally settled on this:
I don't think we can ever thank our troops sufficiently for protecting us and our rights. We can never forget that even if we don't support the cause, we can still support the troops. They put their lives on the line everyday for us! And don't forget the Veteran's also. Just because they are not longer actively serving in the military, they are heroes just the same!

This is a 5x7 card with a plain white cardstock base. The flag image was cut from the Ultimate Creative Sampler Cricut cartridge. The silver stars are from Recollections. They were actually brads, but I took the "brad" part off and just hot glued them down. The soldier was also cut from the Ultimate Creative Sampler cartridge. The sentiment is from the Beyond Birthdays Cricut Catridge.

I think this turned out to be a very powerful card. I hope you like it. Have a great day, weekend, holiday, etc. If you are partying for the holiday, have a great time but please be careful but be responsible. If you are drinking, have a designated driver, give up your keys. There is no shame in doing what is right! Please be safe and have fun!

I am also entering this into the Memorial Day Challenge at FCCB.

    1. The stars weren't all that difficult to place. I let the circuit do all the work for me. There was a little bit of math involved, but not too hard. I'm glad you liked the card.

  8. Wonderful salute to our troops. My Dad was in the Air force and I was raised in a patriotic family. We always displayed the flag and honored those that serve and have served. Thanks for adding your project to our Memorial Day challenge at FCCB. Kim Ogden
