April Showers

Today hasn't been the best day for me. I am so very tired. I had a good couple of days and think I may have over done it a bit. So, this will be a short post.

April showers is the challenge at Little Scrap Pieces. The challenge is to use anything that makes you think of rain. Of course, an umbrella came to mind, then puddles, rain boots, rain coats, and the list goes on. The DT ad CARDZ TV challenged us to use 3 patterned papers. The girls at BBB2 have challenged us to use any umbrella cut and at Die Cuttin Divas the challenge was to use pastels.  So, I just decided to sit down and begin and see where my thoughts led me. This is what I ended up with:

The base is just generic white card stock. The next layers is a blue shimmer paper from DCWV. The next layer is a piece from a recollections Christmas stack which I have had for at least 4 years. The puddle is from my scrap box and was hand cut free form. The bling is from the Michael's dollar isle. The green doodles are Certainly Celery from Stampin' Up. I don't have a cartridge for rain boots, so I took the cow boy boots from 3 Birds on Parade, enlarged them, then adhered them to some white card stock and trimmed around to make a white sole. The green polka dot paper is from the DCWV Nanna's Kids stack. The paper from the legs are also from my scrap box. The are just 2 rectangles  that have been rounded at the "knees." Next, the rain coat. The paper, again, is from Nanna's Kids. I have a pattern for a dress which is fan folded. I used that pattern but only used one of "pleats" and trimmed it up so it didn't look so flared. The papers used on the umbrella are also from Nanna's Kids and the cut is from the Pooh and Friends cartridge. I cut off the handle, and paper pieced in the green panel.

I still want to add a sentiment, but it will probably take me a while to figure out how to do it. I want to add it along the curve of the umbrella.

I think this just may be one of the cuter cards I have made. Let me know what you think.

Have a great evening!

Miranda

  1. This is just adorable. I love how you used a pair of cowboy boots and turned them into rainboots. You can do so much without having to have every single cartridge, if you just think outside the box a little. Well done! Thanks for playing along at Cardz TV.
