Easter Bunny Box

Before I went to the pain specialist the other day, I stopped by my Stampin' Up demonstrator's store to pick up my order.  While I was there, she was working on the cutest Easter card that was simply made  from circles and ovals. That card inspired me to see if I could turn it into an Easter gift box. I ended up with the following:
The cut files and tutorial have been posted on the cricut web site. I also made a template on my computer. I am going to try to get it to load on here.

Not sure why they turned out different sizes, but at least they are there. In order to get them, you will have to copy and past them to a word document or some sort of graphics program, re-size them, and print them off.

This is how you build it:

  1. Cut out shapes
  2. Assemble Box
  3. Cut about ½” from bottom of 4.5” circle.
  4. Adhere 4.5” circle to box so that the cut end is even with bottom of box and so that box opens toward circle. (body)
  5. Adhere 0.5” circles to 0.75” circles
  6. Adhere this compound to 1” circles (These are the eyes).
  7. Adhere 1.5”x 1” oval to indented oval (This forms the nose area).
  8. Refer to picture and adhere eyes with adhesive of choice and nose with mounting tape/pop dots to head.
  9. Adhere 2.8”x2.9” leaf to 2.2”x2.3” leaf to form ears.
  10. Adhere ears to head. (I chose to curl mine somewhat to make them look floppy.
  11. Adhere head to body
  12. Adhere 1.75”x 2” ovals to front of box as in picture.
  13. Adhere 10.5”x0.75” strip to center of body so that they wrap around body and box.
  14. Adhere mittens to strip so that thumbs are facing up when holding box.
  15. Adhere “arms” to box.
  16. Decorate as desired.

Have fun with this! It's not my most elegant project, but I think it did turn out cute, and it has much potential for embellishment.

C&C welcome!

Paper Bow Card

I was surfing the net the other day looking for inspiration and it seemed like everything I came across had bows on it. Now, I am horrible at tying bows. They always come out lopsided, or wonky in some way shape or form. So, I googled "how to make a paper bow" and came across a really cool paper bow template. So, I decided that I would cut it out and make a card. This is the final result:
It is a very simple card, but that is kind of what I was going for. I think this bow would be awesome as a gift topper. Have fun with the template. It is very versatile. The site from which I got the template is full of other fun things to do also.

Have a crafty day!

St. Patrick's Day Card

Well, went to the pain specialist today. I have an epidural injection scheduled for next week. But, like me, he doesn't think the pain has anything to do with the dizziness and the passing out. Guess the doctors are going to have try something else.

I have good news as far as my crafting goes. Remember the birdie challenge I did? I was in the top 5 pics. I don't think there were many entries, but I'll take it! I didn't win anything, the winner is chosen randomly, but I'm very happy with a top five "win," especially since it was the first contest I have ever done.

This week's contest was a St. Patrick's Day contest. This is my entry:

This is called a side step card.  Let me show you why:
From the side you can tell there are 3 layer or steps of this card. It is very simple to make. If you google side step card, you will find very simple instructions. There are also tutorials on YouTube on how to make them.

The sky is a piece of white card stock painted with blue glimmer mist. The rainbow is simply a rainbow coloring page I printed off, colored, cut out and adhered.

The pot of gold and the leprechaun were cut from the Seasonal Characters Cricut cartridge. I think it turned out pretty cute.  C&C welcome.

Just Checking Up

Just wanted to let everyone know, that I am still here. I have had a very bad past couple of days, and am still not up to par. Usually I can work through the pain/dizziness/tiredness/etc. but that has not been the case this time, so I have nothing crafty to show, but, I just wanted to touch base. Hopefully I will be back to crafting soon.

Birdie Shadowbox

Today has been better than yesterday. More dizzy today, but much less pain. So, I decided to work my way through the dizziness and finish the Bye Bye Birdie piece I started last week, I think it was. Here is the finished project:
Both the rose and rose bud are hand made. The large rose was made from the Cricut cartridge Giant roses. The bud was made from the Cricut essentials cartridge. The bird is Bird3 from ribbons and rosettes.

So, with the background. I tore a page out of a dictionary I had from high school and distressed the edges with Tim Holtz Vintage Photo ink. Then lightly when over the page with a pretty dry sponge with Vintage Photo on it.

Then I added the rose and clock rub ons. The rub ons are from Ruby Rock-It and are the Avalon collection.

Next I created the branches. I added some Mod Podge where I wanted the branches to go. Then I pretty much saturated some packaging paper with Mod Podge and manipulated the paper until I was satisfied with the look then put more Mod Podge in place. When it was completely dry, I painted it with Tattered Angels Cork glimmer mist. When that I was dry, I went over it by rubbing some gold metallic pain over it with my finger, just to kind of highlight it.

I then created the rose. I will do a tutorial on it here sooner or later. Once it was created, I chose a spot and adhered it with hot glue. I then cut out the leaves from the Ultimate Creative Sampler Cartridge. I ran them through the embosser with the Cuttlebug D'Vine Swirls folder and inked the embossed areas. The stem was colored with a brown marker then painted with Cork glimmer mist and adhered them once they were dry.

I then created the bud from a 5 petal flower and adhered it to the page after placing the leaves.

Behind the bird is a tag that has been grunged up with gesso, crumpled up, and the high areas inked with Vintage Photo. Once the bid was cut, I inked the edges with Vintage Photo. It is adhered down with 3 layers of mounting tape.

I hope you find it as pretty as I do. I think this is one of the prettier creations of mine. I do plan to put this into a shadow box, I just need to find one that fits.

Black & White Butterfly Card

Well, another bad day. It's getting to get a little tiring. I hate not being able to get out and do things. Today, I went to the post office, Wal-Mart, and to pick up a copy of my MRI, and by the time I got home I was exhausted and in a ton of pain. At least I remembered where I was going and what I was supposed to be doing. Last time I went to Wal-Mart, I forgot what I was there for and wondered around for what seemed like forever before I remembered why I was there. So, I guess there is a possitive.

As for my crafting, I am having a hard time getting motivated. I have done very little on the bye bye birdie challenge. All I have done is add a rose and some leaves.

The card I complted today was for the CAS(E) challenge based on this sketch:

This is my interpretation:
This is a 5x7 card white card stock card which has been adhered to a 5.5 x 7.5 in piece of black card stock. The black butterfly band and the black and white butterflies were cut from the Roses and Rosettes Cricut cartridge. The black doily in the upper corner is cut from Elegant cakes. The flower was hand made as such.

Daisy shape: 2.75" x 3 pieces
                     2.5" x 3 pieces
                     2.25" x 3 pieces
                     2.0" x 3 pieces
  1. Ink edges of each petal.
  2. Curl all petals around pencil/paint brush handle, paper piercer, etc. by placing chosen item down the center of the petal and wrapping sides around item.
  3. Gently fold all petals toward center of flower.
  4. Adhere 2.75" petals together off setting the petals.
  5. Adhere 2.5" petals together, off setting the petals.
  6. Adhere 2.25" petals together, off setting petals.
  7. Adhere 2.0" petals together, off setting petals
  8. Adhere 2.5" pieces to 2.75" pieces.
  9. Adhere 2.25" pieces to 2.5" pieces
  10. Adhere 2.0" pieces to 2.5" pieces
  11. Chose a flower center and adhere to center
  12. Adhere to center of doily
  13. Adhere bodies of black and white butterflies together leaving wings free to fold.
  14. Apply bling of choice to body of butterfly.
  15. Adhere to flower
Tomorrow, hopefully, I will be able to work on the bye bye birdie challenge. Please let me know if you would like more detailed instructions or pictures please feel free to leave me a comment and let me know.

Thanks for stopping by.

Cricut Southwest Contest

Hi, everyone! Sorry I didn't get to post yesterday. Had a very bad pain day, and honestly slept most of the day. Anyway....

Cricut has released a new cartridge, Southwest. With the new release, they posted a contest. And since I am on a contest kick, I decided to enter. Here is my entry.
I have never done a tag before, so I guess this is as good a time as any to start. This tag was created using only white card stock, glimmer mist, mosaic tiles, a button and a glass pearl.

The cut files and instructions are posted on the cricut website. Here is the link:  http://www.cricut.com/project/ViewProject/3220/Southwest-Tag

If you do not have a cricut or do not have access to the southwest cartridge and would like a template, please let me know and I will post one.

Thanks for stopping by.
